Polar Bear Pictures
Polar bear are rightly called largest land predators of world. They are found in Arctic region, Norway, Russia, Canada and Denmark. Majority of the countries have imposed strict ban on the hunting of polar bears. However, a few still allow this activity but only in a controlled manner and only a pre-decided number of polar bears can be hunted.
Polar bears can give birth to babies at an age of 4-5 years. The babies are delivered in caves these polar bears dig. Normally, they stay inside this cave over winter and only after the spring arrives, they come out. The babies are of a size similar to rats and their size is approximately 1 pound. Yet, their growth rate is very quick and they can match the size of a human in duration of 12 months!
The males can grow 10 feet and can weigh as much as 1400 pounds. However, the females can grow 7 feet and their weight can be approximately 650 pounds. Their average age span is 25 years. One misconception is that these bears are white. However, their hairs are clear. The only reason they look white is because hair are hollow and they reflect light. This fur is water-resistant and is oily, so, the polar bears can easily shake water or ice off their hair.

Their favorite food is seal. Normally they hunt very silently and can spend long time near a seal’s breathing hole. As soon as the seal comes to surface, the bear springs and sink the teeth into head of seal.
